Applicant's Checklist
- Applications are due: September 18, 2009 by 5:00pm in the Bands & Orchestras Office (rm.180)
- Each application must be signed by the applicant's applied instructor
- Preliminary auditions will be held by area faculty on or before October 11, 2009
- The finalists must submit any performance-time requests to Rachel Waddell at Orchestra@nau.edu by 5:00pm on October 11, 2009
- Each finalist will furnish the adjudicating committee with three copies of the music to be performed
- The final round of the competition will take place Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 12:00pm

Grand Canyon Junior High Orchestra Festival

Location
The 26th annual Grand Canyon State Junior High School Orchestra Festival will be held on May 1, 2010 in Flagstaff, AZ.
Event Information
Grade Catagories.: 6, 7, 8; 7-8; 7-9.
Ensembles: String Orchestra & Full Orchestras.
An adjudication form will be used with grades ranging from I (superior) to V. There will be no rankings. Adjudicators will work with
each group immediately following the performance at the performance site. There will be 30 minute time slots for each group. We
recommend performing for 15 minutes so there is 15 minutes for the clinic with your group. This event has been organized for the
purpose of accommodating those groups who wish to participate in a festival designed specifically for junior high and middle school
level orchestras.
Application & Fees

- Entry Fee: $250/per ensemble

-- (note: if entry fee not recieved by this date, group will be eliminated and the next group on waiting list will be accepted) - Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first serve basis
-- (phone reservations will not be accepted) - Group photos will be provided after your performance. There is no cost or obligation to sign up to receive your proofs.
- A DVD of your performance will also be available for $15/each

Blue Sky High School Orchestra Festival

Mission
The NAU School of Music will host the 2nd annual Blue Sky High School Orchestra Festival in Flagstaff, AZ. The mission of the festival is to provide an opportunity for high school orchestras to clinic with professional conductors and thus stimulate and foster greater interest in orchestra and string programs.
Eligibility
The festival is open to all high school string, chamber, or full orchestra ensembles with a minimum of 15 members.
Preliminaries
Each ensemble will have an opportunity to perform a program up to 25 minutes long. There is no restriction on types of pieces peformed. The orchestra will then have an opportunity to clinic with one of the conductors for up to 25 minutes.
Finals
The jury will select up to five schools to perform in the gala concert that will take place on a date TBA. The time limit will be 12 minutes. Each of the groups will recieve special recognition.

Facilities
The festival will provide chairs and stands for the performance venue and the clinic room. The decisions of the jury are final.
